Electronic Transformer Electrical Insulation Materials

Electronic Equipment utilizes a range of insulation materials ranging from transformer applications to RF shields and voltage barriers. With the sensitivity of electronic equipment to corona discharge, electro static charges, and stray voltage, electrical insulation materials find application throughout electronic equipment.

Electronic transformers use pressure sensitive electrical tapes as layer insulation. Common electrical insulating tapes include polyester film tapes with acrylic resin adhesives as well as glass filament reinforced polyester film tapes with acrylic adhesives. In addition to electrical insulation for electronic transformers, The Gund Company also provides insulation materials used for RF Shield applications. Common materials for RF Shield applications include Mylar Polyester Film, Flame Retardant Polypropylene, Vulcanized Fiber, and Nomex Aramid Paper.

Also, many types of electronic equipment require voltage barriers to separate the high voltage components such as transformers from the other sensitive components such as semiconductors. Depending on the application, common materials include Flame Retardant Polypropylene Grade PolyPro FR, Glass Polyester Laminate Grade GPO-3, and NEMA G-10/FR4 Glass Epoxy Laminate.
