About TGC
The Gund Company is a third generation family business.
Our roots in the electrical industry run back five generations with the founding of Bussmann Manufacturing Company by Al Bussmann, Sr. The grandfather of our President, Al Sr. counseled young Paul Gund to study chemical engineering to understand the future of materials technology.
Started by Ed Gund in 1951, Paul decided to join E.P. Gund Company in 1963 after graduation from the University of Notre Dame. The business started as a manufacturer's representative organization with principals including Haysite Corporation, Varflex Sleeving, and Wisconsin Porcelain. As Ed and Paul listened to the needs of customers requesting better service and faster delivery, The Gund Company moved into material distribution with a stocking facility closer to our customer base.
In the 1970's and 80's, fabrication services were added to offer customers the ability to order only exactly the material required whether a cut-to-size sheet or a fabricated part. With outsourcing in full swing by the late 1980's, The Gund Company invested in additional fabrication equipment and by 1992 moved to a new 60,000 square foot facility. Since 1992, The Gund Company has averaged better than 20% annual growth including the acquisitions of MM&M Electrical Supply, Inc., Industrial Dielectrics West (now TGC West) and the Nohl Corporation. In addition, we have started TGC Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico and TGC Jiaxing in China.
The Gund Company has grown into one of the largest manufacturers and fabricators of thermoset composite materials based on our understanding of both materials and their application. Our customers will find our materials knowledge and application experience to be a useful resource in solving today's engineering challenges.
